Speaking of crocs, I bought some imitation crocs at Zellars before my trip a few weeks ago. I never thought that I would be caught dead in those but they were the most comfortable shoes I think I have ever worn, especially for a sandal type shoe. I bought them after reading a thread on the subject in this forum. They were only $8 cdn at Zellars. If there is any left at that price, I might buy a few more pairs.

After all the threads I’ve seen telling us that Cdn Tire has Bubba’s on sale, I was really surprised to see that this kind of post could be considered spam

Didn’t strike me as spam-ish, struck me more as helpful-ish! Any site that posters have used with success and satisfaction to send gifts to Cuba is of interest to me.

Although a Croc is essentially the sweatpant of the shoe world ("I give up!" – Seinfeld), I am of an age where comfort, not beauty, is the thing. I love the charms you can put on, I have Tim Horton’s coffee cup, Toronto Maple Leafs, a beaver with a Cdn flag…. I guess you could call it Croc Spam.

I wore my Crocs all week to the NH Krystal in Cayo Coco last week and I think I was the ONLY PERSON I saw with them on. I don’t care. They were lightweight to transport and very comfortable to walk in and rinse sand off from the beach. I gave a pair of hubby’s brown leather dress shoes with extra laces and polish to a gardner and he was almost in tears as he was thanking me and shaking my hand. Good leather is very hard to get in Cuba, as are good quality shoes. The vendors sell roughly made shoes that they put together themselves. They do the best with what they have in materials.

I actually have a cross section of footwear to take with me on our next trip – baby shoes, slippers, athletic sandals, fashion sandals, running shoes, and last but not necessarily least, crocs.

Not sure I can get them all there, and actually Travelchick 2007 has already taken the slippers down for me, 2 for men and 3 for women.

This is another website for shoes, mind you this one is for ladies only, but there are some really good deals. The pricing is in $US, and the shipping isn’t too bad. A co-worker of mine who is from Cuba said a lot of the girls/women she knows in Cuba would love these styles and there is something for everyone.

	Saw 1 maid wearing crocs. And 1 tourist. It’s a draw.

	I guess it depends where someone lives but most Cuban people walk a great deal on dirt roads with chunks of broken cement. Shoes wear out so fast and sturdy ones with sturdy rubber soles are always appreciated as are running shoes. Crocs might be fine for a resort employee but I think they’d get mangled fast outside?

	I have been asked for good runners if possible. I have left mine when I leave and also taken some that I have been able to come across for them. They do a lot of walking and waiting for a ride. Makes me appriaciate my ride to work every morning.
