Gamboa with a little side trip… | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

Grassroots,

the bush plane is exactly that… a bush plane!!!

if I racall they hold about 20 passengers + the 2 people crew. I still have Anna’s hand imprint on my leg from our last trip.

A VERY special experience!!!! By the way the seat belt was used to keep the seat up!!!! ;D

I have looked at Bocas quite a few times, I was under the impression it was about a 6-7 hour drive to Almirante, but wow, 14 hours is a long haul. I think we may look to fly into David in the future, stay around Boquette and then do Bocas from there.

$500 is not too bad. The hotel you picked looks incredible.

Think I noticed ducktape and crazy glue on the wings….The pilot’s seeing eye dog and white cane sort of made me nervous too… ;D ;D ;D

When we went to Panama, in Feb 06 (last year for those who are keeping tab), our side trip then was to Ukuptupu, SanBlas, Panama. Sanblas is approx. 360 islands NW of Panama, on the Atlantic side.We also took the bush plane…… Sanblas is about 1/2 hour flight from Panama city……… when we landed on one of the Islands (I believe it was Porvenir) the island IS the runway. You just hope the plane lands on the runway, as it is so short, and most importantly you hope it’s able to stops at the end of the runway. At the end of the runway, right on the edge, you have mangroves (ditch filled water) on three sides. Problem with this is that the runway is about the width of a oneway street, and at the end the plane needs to turn around, with VERY LITTLE room to spare. By the way, these mangroves have crocodiles and caymans…….

Enjoy your trip!!!!!! ;D
