how do you make mojitos back home? | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

well it’s sad to say but I’ve just recently returned home from Blau Varadero and i already miss my mojitos. I’m going to try to make them from scratch but i was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to make the perfect mojito. like lemon mix etc. please post your recipes.

Unfortunately, here in Manitoba, we are lacking in fresh mint in the winter.I have been unable to mix the exact the taste of Cuba.

Maybe the course sugar they use makes a difference.

I buy the 2.99 packs of fresh mint – take two sprigs, cut a lime in half, smush all the juice in with the mint, and add a bit of simple syrup – the syrup is much better than just putting in sugar (which can be grainy). Then I add the rum, put in the ice, and then top up with soda. Best enjoyed with the cd you bought from the band, while look at your trip pictures.

Don’t forget the bitters. It’s the ingredient we don’t think of and it’s so important.

Won’t taste like Cuba without it.

I make mine the same as Eloisegirl except i don’t add lime, mint, soda, syrup or sugar. The CD makes the difference.
