A friend and I spent two nights at the Iberostar in early November 2007. We found it a delightful place to stay with very helpful staff. It is not a riot of local colour but is a luxurious town centre hotel where it is a relief to retreat to after a hard day’s sightseeing or evening’s bar hopping. Altogether very comfortable and in easy walking distance of most places you would want to go to in Trinidad – museums, sights, restaurants, nightclubs etc. And it has a pleasant restaurant and bar itelf. It does not have a swimming pool but I would not expect that in a hotel so close to the centre of town.

A new and very nice hotel. Shame it doesn’t have the traditional Cuban balconies. No swimming pool. Extraordinary food! (Translated from Spanish)

The good thing about this hotel is the service. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is comfortable and very clean. However, for the price, there are very few facilities. There is no pool, and absolutely nowhere at all to sit out of doors and enjoy a drink. The renovations have been carried out to a bland international formula with no Cuban style or character. The brilliant local light is blocked out everywhere, and around 1000 light bulbs are on in the public areas all day and most of the night. It’s an environmental nightmare and rather claustrophobic.
