If anybody is interested in seeing our ceremony and some reception pictures of our wedding at the Jelly Fish, please feel free to email me, n_cake@hotmail.com, I just got all of our pictures today and I’m not sure how to post pictures on here.

Hey pierrebride: The DJ Mayte brought in for us spoke English very well. He was quite young. I didn’t actually ask for him to be hired, I just paid to rent the equipment and had cd’s to be played for dancing (songs we specifically wanted to hear, I had it all timed perfectly for the length of time we were there for) but then Mayte asked him to be there just in case, and of course did not charge me (we tipped him). He was great, except I noticed he was using his digital turntables to switch back and forth from my 2 cd’s, so slow songs that were meant to be played as the last 2 songs of the night got played in the middle of us getting our boogie on, and a couple times I had to ask him to change the song because it was one that had already been played. He also mixed a few songs in of his own, which was fine, I just wish it wasn’t “Grease Lightning” (possibly the worst song ever) and tons of Rhianna. Just upload songs you want into a playlist on an mp3 player and be clear with your directions to him and it’ll be fine. Our guests had an amazing night, I’m sure I was the only one who gave a crap about what was going on with the music… haha. I’m not sure what his actual music selection is like, but like I said his turntables are digital so I’m sure he’s got tons of music saved in there to choose from.

We had 2 guests announce things like wedding party names, asking people to come up to make a toast/speech, announcing that Mayte was making rounds to take dinner orders so guests needed to sit at their seats for a few minutes, etc. It’s nicer when it’s 2 people, neither of them were there with a date/spouse so I didn’t mind asking them and they’re very outgoing and were happy to do that for us, it didn’t take long and I had a timeline typed out for them so they knew what the hell they were doing and when… haha.

Hope that’s helpful

Ooops, I should clarify just in case: WHEN I SAID

“Perhaps ask Mayte to rope-off the stairs that bring you right into the middle of the restaurant from the beach instructing guests to go around and use the front door (so they’re not trapesing right into your reception…). If they use the front door, the stairs leading upstairs are actually on the outside of the building! It’s perfect…”

WHAT I MEANT WAS UNEXPECTED GUESTS… PEOPLE COMING IN FROM THE BEACH SPORTING SPEEDOS. Some people walked in on ours through that stairway and were very rude, looking around with a totally judgemental sneer on their faces. I could’ve smacked one guy. They were wasted, so I chose to just ignore them. One of Mayte’s staff quickly whisked them upstairs and out of sight. haha

Jellyfish is the best option for weddings and receptions in Punta Cana if you are interested in value for your money.

moepeedy – Congratulations on your wedding. Just checked out your photos and you looked gorgeous. Im pleased it all went well for you. Not sure if you remember but I had my wedding reception at the Jellyfish in January. It was 6 months ago now (god thats gone so fast) and I still think about it all the time. I agree the Jellyfish is THE most amazing place to have a wedding and/or reception. Some of our friends have said they dont know how they could ever top a wedding location like that at the Jellyfish. I LOVE hearing that :o)

I still check out this site from time to time to hear other peoples reviews.

Good luck to everyone planning your wedding there.

LittleL xx

Thanks Moepeedy! Nice to have a look at that again!! They did a great job with the brochure. Our table settings were the magenta with the yellowish orchids. Fun to see them in the brochure. I wish we could go back like hmmm tomorrow. So much fun!!!

Is there a reason why this page hasnt been updated for a while :S
what is the usual time people arrive at Jellyfish after thier ceremony? Im thinking of getting married at 4pm, but not sure what time to book the transport to the jellyfish for…

jennifer1105 2010-08-14 18:43:10 UTC #320

Hi Girls- what’s the usual time for email responses? I’m considering having my reception dinner at the Jellyfish instead of the Melia, and have sent a few emails with some questions, but haven’t heard anything back yet. Just wondering if there’s a long lag time between initial contact and their response. Thanks!
