January 2004
My husband and I stayed at Los Tules in May 2003 while in town for a friend’s wedding and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked the room from Expedia at a very reasonable price and were not disappointed by the description given on Expedia’s website. The property consists of multiple condominium-type units, single rooms, pools and tennis courts. Most of the visitors staying at Los Tules were Mexican, as we were there the week of "spring break" for Mexico, and it was refreshing to have a variety of other guests vs. our stays at properties marketed solely to European and American visitors. The property is on the beach, across the road is a grocery store (Gigante) as well as Pizza Hut and some other shops. Los Tules is very conveniently located between downtown and Nuevo Vallarta and we frequently took one of the many buses which regularly passed Los Tules.
Our room was simple but clean. It had a balcony which faced the ocean, a carved wooden armiore and bed frame, a table and chairs and was quite roomy. Many of the larger condominium units had expansive terraces which faced the ocean or overlooked the lovely grounds and the pools.
While in Puerto Vallarta we frequently visited the Riverwalk Cafe in the evenings to listen to the live jazz music which plays most nights of the week and to enjoy a wonderful dessert. There are many wonderful restaurants in PV, an abundance of reasonable/convenient transportation and excellent shopping due to PV being a thriving Mexican city and not solely a tourist destination. This makes PV a great Mexican destination and we would recommend Los Tules as a wonderful economy lodging.
