Questions for IV girls | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

I’m getting married at the Iberostar Varadero in November – from all the info I’ve read it sound like a great place. We heard you could book the disco for after dinner and before it opens to the publis for a private place to dance and have fun. Unfortunately Belkis has emailed me that they no longer do this :-[.Do you know if there is a pool bar we can book or another area that we can go to? I don’t want the group to break up between dinner and the disco opening.Another question – is the disco open to all ages? We have a few older kids and teenagers joining us (9 yrs – 17yrs).Thanks!

We didn’t book the disco to do before it opened and still had a great evening. We finished dinner around 9ish, by the time we took some pics, mingled, ate and chatted some more. Disco opens at 11 I think. After dinner we headed to the theatre where we all sat together and had some drinks and then watched the night show. They usually have singers/music before and you could dance if you wanted to. After the night show we hit the disco and danced the night away. Our group stayed together for the best part of the night and it was great. As for the disco being open to kids, I don’t think so as we didn’t see any kids on any of the nights we were there, which was almost nightly.

Hi there! I got married at IV in April 2006 and we’re going back in April 2008 for a friend’s wedding and I have to say that I’m very disspointed that they don’t do this anymore…. When we went we decided not to reserve it because we thought it was a little too expensive (200 pesos for an hour…) but we ended up regretting it… We had supper at 7 and finished at around 9 or 9:30 and I have to admit that we thought it was a little long waiting until the show ended and for the disco to open…. We ended up losing about 6 or 8 people from our group… Maybe an alternative would be to ask Belkis if it’s possible to have a live band at the restaurant instead from 8 to 10 or something like that.. In your wedding package you get a live trio for the ceremony and during the week at lunch time they have a band sometimes at the pool buffet so I know they’re definitely equiped to do so…. It might cost you a bit but I think it would be worth it! I’ll definitelly tell my friend who’s getting married to look into it too..

By the way, IV is all around amazing!!! We’re very excited to be going back!

I’ve heard of people renting the pool bar for a few hours (getting the guys to bartend). We didn’t do that, wish we had though. Their CD player isn’t very good, maybe have a friend bring an Ipod with portable speakers and lots of batteries?? We had that, just for around the pool and loved it!
