On St. Vincent, the largest island you will find fertile valleys, rain-forest slopes, rushing rivers, soothing waterfalls, black-sand beaches, and a rugged volcano. Even its capital and prime commercial port, Kingstown, blends in with the picture-perfect surroundings of lush greenery. The northern third of St. Vincent is covered by the Soufriere Mountains – the home of La Soufriere, a 4,000 foot high volcano. From the rim of the volcano you can have a breathtaking view right into the crater. On the northwestern tip of the island you’ll find the Falls of Baleine. These falls can only be reached by boat. The water tumbles 70 feet over lava rocks and through dense tropical foliage into a large deep rock-bound pool near the sea. The highlight here is swimming in a natural bath. St. Vincent’s best beaches are located on the western and southern coasts. The favourites are Villa Beach and Indian Bay Beach, both sparkling white stretches, and Questelles Bay, Mt. Wynne and Richmond, all black-sand beaches.
