That’s OK. I was mostly just trying to tease Terry a bit. Although it had been one of my favorite Cuban songs for a long time, since I first heard it sung by Pete Seeger some time in the sixties. To me, that performance seems a fittingly poignant tribute to Jose Marti.Also, being one of the first Cuban songs I heard performed in Cuba, it brings back some memories of that first trip. Sentimental? Yeah I guess so. But then, I can see how it seems overdone, considering that it is for many people, maybe the only Cuban folk song that they have ever had the opportunity to hear. |
