My husband and I just returned from the best vacation of our lifetime. And we are not at all easy to please. We need a lot of adventure, ease of operation, excellent service… but in an unadulterated, non-commercial but “catered to” setting. Not easy to find. We read about a club called The Southern Cross Club in Out Side Magazine and decided to give it a shot. It was exactly what we dream of…900 feet of secluded private white sand beach, just 13 airy and well appointed ocean-front bungalows with air conditioning, and superb diving and dining. The clubs kitchen offers wonderfully fresh and tropical dining alfresco. The club specializes in scuba diving and deep sea fishing. My husband and I are not experienced divers, in fact this was his first dive trip~ but the dive team and facilities at the club were so exceptional that we had a great time. The club has its own pier and boats right in front… so everything is easy. The staff only allow 12 guests per dive, so you are always VERY well attended. And Bloody Bay wall, one of the most famous dive sites in the world, is just a short trip away. The magic starts just a few feet down, which is great for the novice diver.
The club also has kayaks, bikes, fishing, a well-stocked friendly bar and a great smattering of shaded hammocks! The overall experience is exceptional. If the club were closer, my husband and I would visit on every given Holiday. The unpretentious, barefoot elegance of the Southern Cross club and its pristine beaches will linger with you long after the experience.
