… From reading the forum I know that some of you are are leaving soon for Cuba. Are you going to a new location, are you going to your tried and true location, or are you going to a completely different country or continent?Our first trip this year is at the end of November (like to away for spouses birthday). We are going for the 4th time to Los Galeones (love the village and the staff). It has become our fall vacation it seems). We take a second trip in March/April but that one isn’t decided yet. I like to look at prices and deals.

How about everyone else?

I’m going to the Melia Cayo Guillermo with my son in 26 days (but who’s counting!). It will be my second visit there, and his first.

It will also be my 25th trip to Cuba!

	Heading to Marea del Portillo in February. Lucky enough to return to Villas Cameleon, Jibacoa in April. At the rate our weather is going, I sure wouldn’t mind going south NOW ! unfortnatly, that won’t happen. Really need an infusion of vitamin D already … it’s way too early to need this.

	Same place in Cuba. Sunwing has changed the flight times 3x now, adding a stop in Manzanillo. Also orig dep from TO was 615am w arrival 1020am so we would have had a full day but now 740pm arrival, w customs/shuttle it will be so late we’ll just go to bed.

That happened to us too for this trip. Added the stop in Pilon, changed to 7:40pm arrival in Santiago. Add another 1 for customs and security, add another 90 minutes for trip to Galeones (thank the good lord that the highway is completely finished) and we should get there 11:00pm or midnight. I would have cancelled and rebooked with Hola, but Sunwing’s policies are the pits; so we have to suck it up. I haven’t bothered printing anything yet, because I know they will probably change again; don’t want to kill another tree.

Hope your changes have come to an end and you enjoy the vacay, despite the iffy beginning.

Good old sunwing..they may be cheap, but they are notoriously bad for flight changes, delays , terrible deprture/arrival times.I am not sure where yet in Cuba for Feb. Probably Varadero, where ever the best deal is. And probably again in April with hopefully a great last min deal like I have been lucky enough to find the past 2 years in April.

In the meantime i have a Bahamas cruise in Nov and a Mexican cruise in Jan to tide me over till then!!

Heading back again to Cayo Largo. We came to realize that 1 week is just not enough so we will double it to 2 weeks this time around.

Hope to have a good neighbour at the palapa next to me to share an ice cold cristal and listen to some Beach Boy tunes……

	Going to the much loved and missed Varadero, Cuba and staying at the Iberostar Tainos.

	Iberostar Ensenacho in 3 weeks. Then some place in April. Would love to be able to do the whole winter away or at the very least 1 week per winter month in the Caribbean. LOL

I know that we’re in different provinces; but if you pay, I can always come along! We once did 5 trips in 1 year but that was when we both had money to burn. How I envy you. You have in a 5-6 month period, 2 in Cuba, 1 in the Bahamas & 1 in Mexico. I am seriously impressed.
I have been lucky for sure. But a flexible vacation shcedule allows me to travel whenever I can find a great deal, otherwise I would only be going once a year if I could only go in March when its $2000 a trip south.I try to keep all my travels between $500-$1000 tax in, thereby enabling me to travel 4-5 times a year. My cruise in Jan will be my 6th trip in 12 months, so I have been extra lucky I guess.

I always look for a travel partner, as that makes it even cheaper for me if your game?!….haha

Actually, I’d like to respectfully disagree. When I’m on the beach, I just want to hear the waves, I don’t want to be subjected to someone’s personal musical taste. When I was in Varadero a few years ago, a group of young people assumed that no one would mind if they listened to their own music on the beach… guess they didn’t notice all the dirty looks sent their way. I actually ended up leaving, because I didn’t want to get into a confrontation. Perhaps blixem is more respectful and she actually asks her neighbours if they wouldn’t mind listening to some Beach Boys music before turning on her speakers!

You are right AnneM regarding respecting others around yourself. In Cayo Largo there is plenty of places where you can have your own space and enjoy quite time or listen your favorite tune while resting on the beach. This is how it looks:

That’s what’s so nice about Blimem’s beach. One row of palapas with their friends in the 2 palapas on either side and full permission from all to light up the BB’s.Wouldn’t do it any other way.

It would be hard to imagine anyone firing up their woofers on a "5 rows of palapas deep" beach in Varadero or those other beaches where you are head to toe with your next door neighbor. Unless it’s your crew, there might be words. LOL

Off to the Riu Playa Turquesa in less than a week to hopefully explore the reef and explore the area again via moped. There is talk about going to Varadero or Santa Lucia for another "office meeting" with the gang at work in February.

My last office outing was at Memories Varadero a month ago and I have some great memories and many memory lapses.

But didn’t let me know if you were paying!! The most important question I’ve asked all year and I didn’t get an answer. Woe is me.

You are right AnneM regarding respecting others around yourself. I’ve been to CL at least a dozen times, and what I love most about it is the quiet!

Maybe I should just clarify the Beach Boy comment I made. I’m not talking sub woofer… I’m talking tiny blue tooth speaker hanging on the palapa. 2 palapas over you can’t hear the music… My neighbour first asked me if I would mind if he play some tunes… and we are talking Beach Boys and Beatles songs

Catching some rays on a beautiful beach… having an ice cold Cristal and having the Beatles as background music… life doesn’t come much better than that

If everyone had the same tastes, the world would be a boring place! While in Cuba, I’ll take Latin music over any other type of music, hands down. In my car too, for that matter!

And at the risk of sounding like a heretic, not everyone likes the Beatles nor the Beach Boys!

I think the fact that we all have our personal tastes is perfect – to each their own!
