2009 time to check out Mexico | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

First time traveller to Mexico this winter. will be going in late Feb/09. I have been to Dominican many times and we have decided to go somwhere new this year. looking for an area that is not super busy. Looking for advice on which area of mexico to try. appreciate any advice!

if you want quiet, you may want to try the Riviera or Cozumel, or the west coast of Mexico like Cabo. Most of those places are more intimate, and nothing like the Cancun craziness.Have fun choosing!!

Looking for advice on which area of mexico to try. appreciate any advice! Welcome mrajmrajw, you will love Mexico, it has a bit of everything you may be looking for. I would suggest teh Mayan Riviera (seeing that’s as far as I have traveled in Mexico ;)). If you shop around, you will find just what you are looking for. There are plenty of resorts both large and small in the area, so have a look at some sites and enjoy the hunt. You won’t regret going to Mexico, it really is beautiful.

We went to Mexico twice, first time to Huatulco, second time to the Mayan Riviera. Although the beaches in the Mayan were better, we preferred Huatulco (more authentic, not as touristy and commercialized)

I am leaning toward mayan riviera. any suggestions on resorts? Last year we went to Grand Palladium in Punta and found it too big. I think there was 5 resorts there very nice resort just alittle big.

I am staying at the Catalonia Royal Tulum for the week of new years…if you wit to book until then I can let you know…otherwise….Good Luck

I have a sneaking suspicion, that with the instability of the American economy, vacationing in general is going to be expensive for all travelers.I hope that isn’t the case, but am banking on the fact that it will be, which is precisely why I booked further out this time.Deciding to book, or to wait and see if a deal comes out is a very hard decision.

I was talking to a travel agent the other day who told me that Air Transat was not going to do sell offs this year. It may be a bad stratagie this year, I am booking for at least 4 couples this year and have considered an early booking to lock in a price.

For me, it is always a "book early" situation, as we have multiple people wanting to travel together. Waiting is not anoption for us, but for those who may be able to do so, it could save you quite a bit of money down the road. It’s always a personal decision to be made, good luck deciding……..
