I bought 2 large Air Canada duffle bags this year at our local factory outlet mall this year for $28.00 each. They held as much as our 29" American Tourister suitcases and full, only weighed in at 17kg. We also took our 29′ cases and could only fill them 2/3 full because they weighed so much on their own (there were 4 of us). I think this will be the last trip our big suitcases take. I also found the large duffle bags much easier to handle.

Be careful of the overall dimension limit that your airline imposes for checked baggage. Sunwing’s limit is 62". So for example, if the duffel bag is 36" long, the max width and height cannot add up to more than 26" when fully packed.

If you have a handheld fish weightscale, take it along and see the difference. Also check the quality of the zippers, and if they have holes in the zipper tag and a place to cable tie the zipper (usually a D ring) so it is securely closed.

Have givin up the old for the new. Light weight duffel bags. Sports check here has canadian juinor bags for 19.99 . Bought 2. They are really light. Lots more stuff to take.

I have a big blue Delsey one. I don’t know the exact dimensions but it’s BIG. Always go for the biggest (without going over the dimension limit. It’s height + length + width

We also have the large MEC duffle bag which we usually use for our snorkel equipment but in December had a one week stay in Mexico and used the dufflel as part of our luggage – also on Air Transat’s site there is a "weight" limit on duffles as well as any other bags – I believe 70 lbs. max – these limitations are for the baggage handlers safety (and ours too)! My husband found the "loaded" duffle quite awkward to carry (misplaced the strap) but the bell hops showed us the easiest way – one arm through each handle and carried on the back. Our trip in March will be using both light weight cases with rollers and the duffle for snorkel stuff!

However… the only thing I have used it for was to carry my shoes before DH put a stop to that.. (It was actually him carrying my shoes) Our regular luggage is super lightweight and also has wheels, so we find that easier, as the carry ons strap right on top of the suitcases for transport in the bus and rolling it to the rooms..

I now suffer the hardship and make due with only 4 or 5 pairs of shoes..and no duffel bag.

I even have had to zip open the extra zipper so my luggage can expand more

Don’t you just hate it when you are waiting for your luggage and you see suitcases that are sunken in which means there is hardly any thing in them. What are these people thinking

I have the roller hockey bags. They are great. If they have smaller restrictions I just don’t pack them full. I clamp them down with luggage straps so they can see they aren’t full and over sized. Plus the straps stop anything from sliding around too much inside. They didn’t even flinch when they seen them. I guess the straps made it look like I didn’t over pack. lol
If I pack them full I can fit two of my old suitcases into one hockey bag at a lighter weight too of course. 🙂

We have 6 duffel bags packed with a total weight of 300 lbs for two of us. I just have to put the dive lights in and we are all set.

Now we just have to get it all into Honduras without paying duty on any of it.
